I found out he was going like two days before the thing, and I was a little irked because I would have made arrangements to go with him, since I wouldn't go to something like that myself. Apparently he and his friend (his friend LOVES anime) had just randomly decided to go like a week prior. Of course I was stuck with work and softball. I was so jealous.
Then I found out after he got back that they got kicked out of the convention, lol! They stood in line for six hours to get registered on the first day. They were so tired that they went back to their hotel after only a half hour of being there. The next day, they were there for about an hour and a half when my brother's friend got stopped by a security guard for carrying a "live blade". He bought a sword at the convention and took it out of the box (though it was still in the sheath), and apparently that's a big no-no. The guard didn't even give him a warning, though it seems to me like an honest mistake. Nope, he just kicked them out.
So after all that driving, and six hours of waiting in line, they were at the convention a total of two hours. My brother thought the whole thing was hilarious. It turns out it was probably a good thing he wasn't that much of a fan.
